2012 General Meeting of Members and Supporters
THE JANUSZ KORCZAK ASSOCIATION OF CANADA
is pleased to welcome you to the 2012 General Meeting of Members and Supporters.
The Meeting will be held in a new open format.
We will present the projects that were done over the past year.
We will promote the latest double issue of our Newsletter.
We will share our plans for 2012 which will be celebrated around the world as the
Year of Janusz Korczak
commemorating the 100th anniversary of the opening of Korczak’s orphanage Dom Sierot and the 70th anniversary of his tragic death at the Nazi concentration camp of Treblinka.
The following are highlights of the Association’s plans:
– February-March 2012: co-presentation of the Chutzpah! Festival and the Popular Theatre performance “King Matt The First” by J. Korczak directed by Julia Wernio (Poland)
– Spring 2012: presentation of the book written by Olga Medvedeva-Nathoo“May Their Lives Be Easier…” about Janusz Korczak and his ward Leon Gluzman who has been living in Canada since 1930
– Fall 2012: placing bas-relief of Janusz Korczak at the Department of Education at the University of British Columbia
