About Association
The Janusz Korczak Association
of Canada was established in February 2002, with its home in Vancouver.
The Association’s goals
are as follows:
- To foster the recognition of Janusz Korczak’s life and work.
- To familiarize Canadians with his heroism during World War II, and his stout defence of Children’s rights.
- To disseminate Korczak’s pedagogical ideas as well as their effect on children’s education.
We are open to all who care about the welfare of the children and youth of this city, province, and country. It is our mandate to support the human rights of all children, including street children and orphans, and to foster recognition of Janusz Korczak's humanism and sacrifice. We strive to teach others about this man, who devoted his life to establishing and defining the rights of the child and whose ideas were adopted by the United Nations in "The Convention on the Rights of the Child" in 1959.
