Lecture #6 “How to Love a Child” the Janusz Korczak Lecture Series

The Janusz Korczak Association of Canada would like to invite all members and sympathizers to the final presentation of the Janusz Korczak “How to Love a Child” lecture series which will take place on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 promptly at 6:45 PM, in the new Robert H. Lee Alumni Center on the UBC Campus. To register, please visit jklectures.educ.ubc.ca. The lecture is free, but the registration is required.

The event will be preceded by a wine and cheese reception beginning at 6:15 PM to acknowledge the publication of two new books: Taking Root: My Life as a Child of Janusz Korczak- the Father of Children’s Rights by Shlomo Nadel and White House in a Gray City by Yitzchak Belfer. Irwin Elman, the Ontario Advocate for Children and Youth, will attend to participate in the launching of the new books.

• Introductions from the Consul General of Poland, the Dean of UBC Faculty of Education and the President of the Janusz Korczak Association of Canada
• Presentation of the First Janusz Korczak Medal for Children’s Rights Advocacy to be presented by Jerry Nussbaum and Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond
• Keynote Presentation: How to love a child: turning rights into action by Professor Jim Anglin
• Panel discussion
